When water begins to wander
Spring thaw and the return of life
In the valley, the first fruit trees are already in bloom, while high up on the peaks, snow still blankets the ground. Between these two worlds, something fascinating is happening: spring sends its first warm rays of sunshine onto the white mountain tops, and with them begins a great journey – that of the water droplets.
Slowly, almost imperceptibly, the snow begins to melt. And what may seem insignificant at first glance marks the beginning of a new cycle of life. Tiny trickles become streams, droplets form springs, and the nature around Olang comes back to life:
- Streams gurgle cheerfully through the forests, bringing fresh water to the valleys.
- Meadows turn a lush green, nourished and revived by the meltwater.
- The first frogs and salamanders awaken and make their way to their spawning grounds.
You can experience this natural wonder on the trail to the Angerer hut: along the path, you can hear rushing, dripping, and splashing – and the air is filled with the scent of damp earth, young grass, and fresh bark.
💧 Explorer’s tip:
Take a few minutes and lean against a tree near a stream. Close your eyes and listen. That’s not just water – that’s spring, carving its way back into life.
